The Congreso Subway station is a station of line A of Buenos Aires Underground and is part of the section Plaza de Mayo - Plaza Miserere , which opened the first of the network on 1 December 1913th The metro station is located below Avenida Rivadavia between Avenida Callao / Avenida Entre Ríos and Calle Riobamba / Calle Combate de los Pozos. South of the station is the eponymous Argentine Congress Palace (Palacio del Congreso de la Nación Argentina) .

history

The Congreso metro station went into operation on December 1, 1913 , along with the section between Plaza de Mayo and Plaza Miserere . This station also received the usual side platforms, the station furniture, the pillars and decorative strips were painted brown. The walls are tiled in white and beige.

In 1997 the metro station was classified as a national historical monument (monumento histórico nacional) .

Various renovation measures have taken place in the station in recent years. Among other things, the station received an elevator - as one of the few subway stations in Buenos Aires.

At the underground station you can change to numerous buses (colectivos) .
