The Langenberger SV (officially: Langenberger Spielverein 1916 eV ) is a sports club from the Velbert district of Langenberg in the Mettmann district . The first soccer team played for three years in the highest amateur league in the Lower Rhine region.

history

The club was founded in 1916 and then played in the second to third highest division. After the war ended , the team was promoted to the district class in 1951. Five years later, the Langenberger rose to the state league . After only one year, the team went back to the district class as the penultimate. In 1962, the Langenberger rose again to the state league only to be relegated like the first time.

In 1967 he made the leap into the national league for the third time and in 1968 he was runner-up behind TuRa Büderich . Two years later, the team rose again from the district class and returned in 1973 to the state league. There the Langenberger managed to march through to the Niederrhein Association League in the 1973/74 season . After two tenth places followed in 1976/77 relegation to the state league. Then the club commuted between the district and district league. In the 2016/17 season the Langenbergers play in the district league A.
