The Association League Niederrhein 1971/72 was the 16th season of the Association League Niederrhein , which was the top division in the Lower Rhine amateur football of men from 1957 to 1978 . Until 1974, this league, together with the association leagues Middle Rhine and Westphalia, formed the substructure of the Regionalliga West and was third-class in the German football league system of that time .

Season end

The 1. FC Mülheim was Niederrhein champion and was promoted to the Regionalliga West. Olympia Bocholt , VfB Speldorf and Hamborn 07 were relegated to the Lower Rhine regional league . The amateurs of Schwarz-Weiß Essen , VfB Bottrop and 1. FC Viersen rose from the national leagues for the new 1972/73 season . Relegated VfR Neuss came from Regionalliga West .
