Gelria Geldern (officially: Gymnastics and Sports Club Gelria 09 Geldern eV ) was a sports club from Geldern in the Kleve district . The first soccer team played for a year in the highest amateur league in the Lower Rhine region.
history
The association was founded in 1909. After the end of World War II , the footballers initially played in the district class before they were promoted to the Lower Rhine regional league in 1965 . After the direct relegation, the Geldern could only rise again in 1969 in the state league. In 1974 Gelria runner-up behind the 1. FC Bocholt before the team three years later promotion to the Verbandsliga Niederrhein managed and moved in the highest amateur league Lower Rhine. As table tenth of the 1977/78 season , the qualification for the newly created Oberliga Nordrhein was just missed. A year later, the relegation to the national league followed before Gelria disappeared in the lower divisions. In 1992 Gelria merged with RSV Geldern to form GSV Geldern .
