timeline

In 1920 the gymnastics and sports association Eller 04 was founded from the clubs Turnerbund Germania 04, Eller Sportclub, Football Club Prussia 1911 and Sports Association 1912. The sporting activity took place on the square of the football club Prussia founded in 1911 on Gumbertstrasse in Eller - in the club colors of Eller Sports clubs 1912: red-black.

Initially, the club's footballers achieved national importance when, after a 6-2 win (1: 2) against VfL Benrath in 1924, they were promoted to the special class (then top division) and a year later against FC Schalke 04 by West German regional league championship played. The handball players stood in 1927 a. a. with the Dortmund police and SW Barmen in the final round of the Ruhr district championship. In 1929 the club moved from the old to the current facility, soon created two more sports fields and at the beginning of the 1930s had 5–6 senior, 12–14 youth and 5–6 handball teams.

Departments such as cycling, boxing and athletics joined the club over time, but could not establish themselves permanently and disbanded again.

1948 one counted 12,000 spectators in Eller with the 0-2 defeat in the promotion qualification to the highest amateur league against the Homberger SV . In the following year, she made the leap into the Lower Rhine Association . After the contract players' clubs Fortuna 95 and VfL Benrath, TSV Eller 04 was now Düsseldorf's No. 1 amateur team for a few years, before relegating to the regional league in 1960 and the district league the following year, the farewell to the lower league regions began. It was not until 1966 that the national league returned.

The first men's handball team was initially unable to build on its previous successes after the war, it was not until 1987 that it regained importance beyond the city limits with the rise of the regional league, surpassed in the following years by the women, who even made it into the association league climbed and in 1983 barely failed in the league qualification. Currently (2010) they achieved promotion to the state league under the name HSG Eller 90; Since 1990 the handball players of TSV Eller 04 have been linked in a syndicate with DJK Eller (HSG Eller 90).

The anniversary year 1974 saw the inauguration of the new clubhouse and the changing facilities, but also the descent of the footballers to the district league. The prompt resurgence was successful, but with the relegation the following year, membership in the regional league was finally over. To get back to old, more successful times failed in 1983 and 1986 with the runner-up championships that did not qualify for promotion; In 1983 a home draw against Mülheim 07 would have been enough; However, it continued a 0-1 defeat. The last time 2000 spectators attended a championship game. In 1990 all three senior football teams got out of their classes (district league, district league A, district league B).

After establishing itself in the district league A, things seemed to be improving again in 1996, but even a six-point lead in spring 1997 was not enough to reach the goal before local rivals FC Tannenhof, later attempts failed at Viktoria Düsseldorf, Germania Hochdahl and Eintracht 05, on the other hand, the reserve team even rose in 2000 to join the parallel group.

In the anniversary year 2004, the club managed to make up eight points behind the leaders TSV Urdenbach and to win the championship in the last game. The relegation followed immediately, but in 2008 he returned to the district league and subsequently won the runner-up in 2009 behind the traditional club VfR Neuss . In the 2009/10 season, TSV Eller 04 celebrated their return to the national league after 34 years of absence due to the prematurely won championship. Three years later, the first team was relegated to the district league again. In 2018, the return to the national league failed after defeats in the two relegation games against the Holzheimer SG.

In the DFB Cup on the Lower Rhine level, the first team - as an eighth division - advanced to the third round and was defeated by third division Wuppertaler SV on October 10, 2009 after a 1: 2 intermediate result with 1: 5 - controversial goals by the guests were prevented a possible sensation. In 2011 they lost to VfB Speldorf just 0: 1 in the second round .
