history

The association was founded in June 1881 as TV 1881 Altendorf . On September 13, 1919, the club merged with the Essen-West game club , which was created in 1911 through a merger of Ball-SV Borussia Essen-West and SK Hohenzollern Essen-West , to form TSV Essen-West . As part of the clean divorce , the association split up in 1923 into TuS Essen-West and TV Essen-West . In 1930, BV Germania Essen-West joined before TuS Essen-West merged with TV Essen-West in 1933 . Together with Kruppschen TG Essen , the club formed a war game community between 1943 and 1945 .

In 1949, the first team rose to the Lower Rhine regional league and was fourth straight away. The club was included in the then second class II. Division West , in which the TuS held for two years. Only three years later, he was relegated to the district league. In the early 1960s, the club returned to the fourth-class national league, but only appeared there as an elevator team . After relegation to the district league A in 2004, another descent to the district league B followed in 2008. Since 2011, the club has been back in the district league Niederrhein. In 2015 he was promoted to the Lower Rhine regional league, from which he had to relegate two years later. TuS Essen-West currently plays in the district league group 6.
