Oberliga 1950/51

The II. Division 1950/51 was the second season of the II. Division , which formed the second highest division in football in parts of Germany between 1949 and 1963. In the 1950/51 season there was a double-track division in West Germany and, for the first time, the newly introduced single-track II Division in southern Germany . Southwest Germany introduced the league in 1951. The 2nd Division was not introduced in northern Germany and West Berlin . Here the amateur league was the second highest division.

Meidericher SV and Bayer 04 Leverkusen secured the championship . A final between the two group winners did not take place. The second-placed Schwarz-Weiß Essen and SSV Wuppertaler took part in a relegation round with the upper division teams Alemannia Aachen and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . Essen made the rise. Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Duisburger SpV rose from the league . The Cologne clubs SC West and VfL 1899 formed a syndicate for the 1951/52 season. VfB Bottrop , Duisburg FV 08 and SpVgg Röhlinghausen rose from the national leagues . The II. Division West played in the 1951/52 season with 33 teams in two groups.

    It was not until the beginning of June 1950 that the game system commission of the South German Football Association agreed with its member associations on a single-track II Division at a meeting in Untertürkheim. Until then, there had been two squadrons in the room. The respective regional associations were taken into account as follows:

    • Bavaria : 6 clubs, including the league relegated Jahn Regensburg
    • Hessen: 4 clubs, including Viktoria Aschaffenburg
    • Württemberg: 3 clubs, including league relegated Stuttgarter Kickers
    • Baden: 2 clubs
    • South Zone League: 3 clubs

    The Stuttgarter Kickers and Viktoria Aschaffenburg rose to the Oberliga Süd. The relegated in the amateur league were SG Arheilgen , Union Böckingen , VfL Konstanz and SV 03 Tübingen . From the Oberliga Süd, BC Augsburg , SV Darmstadt 98 , SSV Reutlingen 05 and FC Singen 04 were relegated. VfR Aalen and ASV Feudenheim rose from the amateur leagues .

    Promotion lap

    The champions of the amateur leagues Bavaria , Hesse and Württemberg were automatically qualified for the promotion round. The champions of the amateur league Baden and Südbaden had to play qualifying games. Here ASV Feudenheim prevailed against FC 08 Villingen . Both teams won their home games 2-0. Feudenheim won the play-off in Pforzheim 1-0 after extra time .

    In the promotion round, VfR Aalen , ASV Feudenheim and VfL Neustadt / Coburg stayed tied. Aalen won the playoffs (5-0 against Feudenheim in Würzburg ) and Feudenheim (1-0 against Neustadt in Aschaffenburg ). The game between Neustadt and Aalen was not played for unknown reasons.
