The II. Division 1950/51 was the second season of the II. Division , which formed the second highest division in football in parts of Germany between 1949 and 1963. In the 1950/51 season there was a double-track division in West Germany and, for the first time, the newly introduced single-track II Division in southern Germany . Southwest Germany introduced the league in 1951. The 2nd Division was not introduced in northern Germany and West Berlin . Here the amateur league was the second highest division.
It was not until the beginning of June 1950 that the game system commission of the South German Football Association agreed with its member associations on a single-track II Division at a meeting in Untertürkheim. Until then, there had been two squadrons in the room. The respective regional associations were taken into account as follows:
Bavaria : 6 clubs, including the league relegated Jahn Regensburg
Hessen: 4 clubs, including Viktoria Aschaffenburg
Württemberg: 3 clubs, including league relegated Stuttgarter Kickers
In the promotion round, VfR Aalen , ASV Feudenheim and VfL Neustadt / Coburg stayed tied. Aalen won the playoffs (5-0 against Feudenheim in Würzburg ) and Feudenheim (1-0 against Neustadt in Aschaffenburg ). The game between Neustadt and Aalen was not played for unknown reasons.
