Oberliga 1957/58

The II. Division 1957/58 was the ninth season of the II. Division , which formed the second highest division in football in parts of Germany between 1949 and 1963. In the 1957/58 season there was a single-track II Division in west , south-west and south Germany . The 2nd Division was not introduced in northern Germany and West Berlin . Here the amateur league was the second highest division.

The STV Horst-Emscher and Borussia Munich-Gladbach rose to the Oberliga West. Hamborn 07 and Wuppertaler SV were relegated from the league . The SG Wattenscheid 09 and Marathon Remscheid had to relegate to the association league and were replaced by the SpVgg Erkenschwick and the TuS Lintfort .

    Promotion round west

    The champions of the three West German associations took part in the promotion round. Since both the Hombrucher FV and the SV Bergisch Gladbach 09 renounced the promotion, the Westphalian runner-up SpVgg Erkenschwick moved up.

    The SV Weisenau and the Sportfreunde Saarbrücken rose to the Oberliga Südwest. VfR Kaiserslautern and SV St. Ingbert were relegated from the Oberliga Südwest . Germania Metternich and VfL Neuwied had to relegate to the amateur league and were replaced by Ludwigshafener SC and VfB Theley . Viktoria Hühnerfeld called herself Viktoria Sulzbach from the 1958/59 season .

    Ascent round southwest

    The champions of the three south-west German amateur leagues and the south-west German cup winner FSV Schifferstadt took part in the promotion round . The round was also the final round of the southwest German amateur championship, in which the games with Schifferstadt participation were not counted.
