The VfL Trier 1912 eV is a sports club from Trier .

history

The large club was created in October 1935 through the merger of FV Hansa 1912 Trier (St. Medard) and SV Phönix 1913 Trier (Heiligkreuz) to form SV Trier-Süd 1912 . After the Second World War, the gymnastics society broke away from the club and so in 1951 the TG Trier 1880 and the VfL Trier 1912 eV were founded

Soccer

The club's soccer department is well-known and played from 1955 to 1959 in the 2. Oberliga Südwest , the second highest division at the time. Later, VfL Trier belonged to the Oberliga Südwest for three years, from 1995 to 1998 . In the years 1954, 1955 and 1995 the club became Rhineland Champion .

For the 2008/09 season, VfL Trier and its neighbor SSG Mariahof formed SG VfL Trier / Mariahof. The syndicate entered with three senior teams (1st team district league A Trier-Saarburg, 2nd team district league C Trier-Eifel, 3rd team district league D Trier). At the end of the season, the first team had to relegate to the district league B as bottom of the table.

For the 2010/11 season, the two neighboring clubs separated again. VfL Trier reported two senior teams. The first team played in the district league C Saar and the second team in the district league D Trier / Eifel. There both the 1st senior team and the 2nd team took 8th place in the table in the respective season.

For the 2011/12 season one changed the relay with both teams and entered with the 1st team in the district league C Trier / Eifel and with the 2nd team in the district league D Trier. At the end of the season, the first team found themselves in 7th place after they had kept up with third place until the winter break. The second team also finished the season in 7th place.

Also in the 2012/13 season they competed with two senior teams. The first continues in the district league C Trier / Eifel and the second in the district league D Trier. The big celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the club took place between August 31 and September 2. The highlight was a friendly against regional league club SV Eintracht Trier 05 , which was lost 0:19. For the first time in the 100-year history of the club, a women's team was also reported to compete in the Trier district class. The season was very successful for all teams. The first and second men's teams were able to celebrate the championship in their leagues. The women's team achieved an excellent 4th place.

After the double promotion, the first plays in the district league B Trier / Saar, the second in the district league C Trier / Eifel. In addition, a third men's team was reported, which competes in the district league D Trier. The women's team has also been reported again and can for the first time include their own youth players in the squad. This is also a great success of the successful youth work in recent years. At the end of the 2013/2014 season, both the first and second men's teams had to be relegated. In the relegation, both teams failed to keep the class.

The first team played in the district league C Saar in the 2014/2015 and 2015/16 seasons. The 2015/2016 season was the most successful round in years with three championships. The first team won the championship in the Saar district league C, the second team became champions in the D district league Trier / Eifel and the women's team was also champions in the Trier-Saarburg women's district league.
