The SV 08 Ludweiler is a football club from Völklingen in Saarland . The first team has been playing in the Landesliga Süd since the 2014/15 season, the second team in the Kreisliga B. Between 1954 and 1963, the first team played in the then second-class II. Division Southwest.

history

The club was founded in June 1908 as the 1908 Ludweiler-Warndt sports association . The word "Warndt" stands for the forest area that surrounds Ludweiler . In 1913 the club was affiliated with the TV Ludweiler-Warndt , before all local clubs were merged to form VfL Ludweiler-Warndt in 1937 . After the end of the Second World War , VfL was dissolved. At the end of 1945 the association was re-established under its current name.

The club celebrated its first major success in 1933 when it was promoted to the then second-class district league. In 1946 the team rose to the Saarland League , to which they belonged for three years. In 1953, the Ludweiler rose to the Saarland amateur league , were instant champions and made it to the 2nd Division Southwest. There the team mostly occupied places in the midfield. The greatest success was the sixth place in the 1961/62 season under the later Bundesliga coach Otto Knefler . A year later, the team missed qualification for the Regionalliga Südwest .

In 1965 , SV Ludweiler-Warndt became champions of the Saarland Amateur League, but failed in the promotion round to the Regionalliga Südwest at SV Alsenborn . In the following years, the team achieved placements in the midfield. In 1973 the team was runner-up and qualified for the German amateur championship , where in the first round they were eliminated from the amateurs of 1. FC Kaiserslautern .

In 1975 Ludweiler were relegated from the amateur league, followed by relegation to the district league in 1983. It was not until 1988 that he returned to the national league. In 1990 the team lost to Borussia Neunkirchen in the final of the Saarland Cup with 0: 6. Nevertheless, the team qualified for the DFB Cup , in which they were eliminated in the first round against SV Meppen . At the end of the 1990/91 season he returned to the Saarland Association League .

In 1993 the Ludweiler again reached the final of the Saarland Cup, which was lost to SV Mettlach . In the first round of the DFB Cup, the Borussia Dortmund team lost 4-1. In 1995, he was relegated from the Association League, followed by relegation from the State League a year later. In 2012 the team became unbeaten autumn champions in the Saarlouis district league.
