The Sportfreunde Herdorf is a sports club from Herdorf in Rhineland-Palatinate . The first soccer team plays as SG Herdorf in the Rhineland-East district league. Between 1952 and 1957 the team belonged to the then second-class 2nd Division Southwest.
history
The club was founded in September 1910 as Spielverein 1910 Herdorf , which joined TV Jahn Herdorf in 1912 and formed its football department. In 1922 the football department was dissolved. In the same year a new club called Spielverein 1910 Herdorf was founded, which disbanded in 1926. The Hellertaler Sportfreunde were founded in 1928 and were involved in KSG Betzdorf-Herdorf between 1943 and 1945 . After the end of the Second World War , Sportfreunde Herdorf was founded. The TV Jahn Herdorf also flowed into this association, but it split off again in 1948.
In 1951 the Sportfreunde were one of the founding members of the II. Southwest Division. The best placement was achieved in the 1954/55 season when the Herdorf was third. Two years later, the Sportfreunde rose from bottom of the table in the Rhineland amateur league . In 1958 the Herdorf team became Rhineland champions after beating TuS Mayen , but missed promotion to the 2nd division. In the same year the club won the Rhineland Cup .
In 1964, the Sportfreunde descended from the amateur league for the first time, but managed to get back up straight away. After a fourth place in the 1967/68 season followed a year later the renewed relegation from the amateur league after a defeat in the playoff against VfB knowledge . With the descent, the sports fans said goodbye to higher-class football and in the 1990s they entered into a syndicate with TuS DJK Herdorf . In 2009 this was champion of the district league Westerwald / Sieg and made it to the district league. There it went back to the district league in 2014 as the knocked-down bottom of the table.
