Qualification for DFB Cup

The Bitburger-Rheinlandpokal is the association cup of Rhineland football . It has been organized annually by the Rhineland Football Association (FVR) since 1954 . The winner is entitled to participate in the DFB Cup for the following season.

Participants in the association cup are the teams belonging to the FVR in the 3rd division , the Regionalliga Südwest , the Oberliga Südwest , the Verbandsliga Rheinland, the regional leagues , as well as a number of teams that qualify in the districts.

Until the 2006/07 season, the lottery company Oddset was the name sponsor of the cup, before the Bitburger brewery group took over the name sponsorship since the 2007/08 season and is now called the Bitburger Cup.
