SG Ellingen-Bonefeld-Willroth
The SG Ellingen / Bonefeld / Willroth is a syndicate of three amateur clubs from the Westerwald . The first soccer team played for two years in the then third-class Oberliga Südwest and took part in the DFB Cup four times .
history
The syndicate was founded in 1973 by the clubs SV Ellingen and TuS Bonefeld . In 1978 FC Willroth was added. Thanks to its youth work, SV Ellingen had previously been able to celebrate five promotions within ten years, which secured the syndicate a place in the Rhineland amateur league in 1973 . In the amateur league, the SG always occupied a single-digit place in the table, with fifth place in the 1977/78 season being the sporting highlight. In the meantime, the team won the Rhineland Cup for the first time in 1977 and qualified for the DFB Cup. There the team failed in the second round with 1: 6 at FC Schalke 04 . In 1978 the SG qualified for the newly created Oberliga Südwest and moved back into the DFB Cup, where the team was eliminated again in the second round . At Eintracht Braunschweig , the Westerwälder lost 0: 1.
In the Oberliga Südwest, the SG played against relegation, which took place at the end of the 1979/80 season as bottom of the table. At Mainz 05 the team lost 0:10. Back in the Verbandsliga Rheinland , the SG slipped back into mediocrity. At the last DFB Cup appearance in the 1983/84 season , there was a 2-3 defeat against Holstein Kiel in the first round . Five years later, the Westerwald were relegated from the association league, returned straight away and had to go back to the state league in 1992. There followed a few years as an elevator team , which returned to the association league again in the 2005/06 season. After two relegations in a row, the syndicate enters the district league A Westerwald-Wied . In the 2012/2013 season, after several years of abstinence, the return to general football could be celebrated. In addition to the championship in the district league A of the Westerwald / Wied district, they also won the indoor district championship and the district cup. Thus SG Ellingen / Bonefeld / Willroth will start in the 2013/2014 season in the District League East of the Rhineland Football Association.
In the 2015/2016 season, they narrowly missed promotion to the Rhineland League. After being level on points with SV Windhagen at the top of the table after the regular season, a play-off had to be contested. This one lost in Puderbach in front of the stately backdrop of 2,145 spectators with 0: 2.
