Zdeněk Šesták

Zdeněk Šesták (born December 10, 1925 in Citoliby ) is a Czech composer and musicologist.

As a child, Šesták attended the music school in Slaný and was an organist in his hometown during high school. At the Prague Conservatory he studied music theory and composition with Miroslav Krejčí and Emil Hlobil . He also studied musicology with Josef Hutter at Karls University . As a musicologist, he specialized in music in the 18th century in Citoliby, especially the composer Václav Jan Kopřiva and his son Karel Blažej Kopřiva .

Šesták composed a. a. six symphonies, two violin concertos, two cello concertos, nine string quartets and two string quintets as well as other chamber music works, as well as choral works, songs and song cycles.
