The SV Prüm (officially: Sportverein Prüm 1920 eV ) was a sports club from Prüm in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm . The first football team played for seven years in the then third or fourth class Oberliga Südwest .

history

The association was founded on April 12, 1920 and dissolved at the end of the Second World War in 1945. The company was re-established on April 8, 1946. On July 1, 1979, the Streif AG operations team joined SV Prüm, which has since assumed the name of SG Streif Prüm . From 1995 the name SV Prüm was adopted again.

In 1965, SV Prüm was promoted to the Rhineland amateur league , from which the team promptly relegated. Only in 1980 succeeded in the renewed rise in the league now called in the Rhineland league. This time the SVP was able to establish itself in the league, but initially did not get beyond the relegation battle. Only at the end of the 1980s did the club reach higher table regions. In 1993 the Prümer were three points ahead of the TuS Koblenz champions and were promoted to the Oberliga Südwest. Two years later the team was relegated.

After the immediate rise, several years followed in the lower half of the league table. The greatest success was eleventh place in the 1998/99 season . In 1998 SV Prüm reached the final of the Rhineland Cup , which was lost 2-0 to the Eisbachtaler Sportfreunde . In the 2000/01 season , the club had to withdraw the team from the league after 37 games, 34 of which were lost. The club then went bankrupt and was dissolved.

FC Prüm was founded on June 15, 2001 as the successor club. Since 2010, this has formed the SG Prümer Land game community with 1. FC Rommersheim and SSV Wallersheim , which has been competing in the district league B since 2012. Since the 2017/18 season, FC Prüm has been playing in the district league A Eifel.
