The Streif GmbH is a manufacturer of industrially prefabricated prefabricated houses headquartered in Rhineland-Palatinate Weinheim .

The medium-sized, owner-managed company employs around 300 people and generates annual sales of around 70 million euros. The company became known from 1980, among other things, as a producer of the Neckermann houses, which could also be acquired in the GDR via Genex .

history

Streif GmbH emerged from the first specialist company for formwork construction founded by Josef Streif in Frankfurt am Main in 1929 . The formwork timber from Streif for the concrete casting was used, among other things, in the construction of the Berlin Olympic Stadium , the erection of the Frankfurt exhibition tower , the International Congress Center Berlin and the East Terminal at Frankfurt Airport .

With the start of prefabricated house production in 1964, a new era began. From 1970, Hochtief AG took a stake in Streif-Fertighaus GmbH & Co KG and in 1980 took over the majority of the entire Streif AG. In 1982 Neckermann-Eigenheim GmbH, the former sales company for the Streif prefabricated houses, was taken over. Streif established itself in the 1980s and 1990s in the prefabricated construction of single, two-family, semi-detached and terraced houses. In the period that followed, a number of other sister companies emerged.

"Streif Industrieanlagen" had specialized in the construction of plants for prefabricated houses, interior doors and panels . Complete production systems for house and building element construction were planned, built and handed over ready for use.

Projects were created in Indonesia, China, Thailand, South Africa, Malaysia and the Philippines. In Russia, Streif AG built 14 plants for the manufacture of building elements, including the world's largest prefabricated house plant in Tyumen, Siberia . Up to 5000 houses can be manufactured there per year. The plant, which was founded in 1970 in Weinsheim and where the current company headquarters is located, has an annual capacity of up to 1,500 houses.

In addition to these two companies, the Streif group of companies also comprised “Streif Zweckbau” and “Prüm Türwerk GmbH” in the mid-1990s. At the turn of the millennium, the AG was restructured by the parent company at that time, Hochtief AG .

The largely medium-sized house construction was outsourced and finally sold to Partner GmbH, and the stock corporation was converted into a GmbH . At the same time, Streif was modernized. A new house building program was developed, the "variant program". Customers can have their individual house built from 1500 basic components. After the introduction of the “variant program”, sales figures rose in 2002 and 2003.

In 2004, Streif developed further house types that were also placed on the European home market. With the takeover of Schwabenhaus GmbH & Co. KG in 2005, Streif was able to integrate another prefabricated house manufacturer into the group of companies. In 2007 Streif was the first German company to implement a house building program with 18 house units in Great Britain . In 2009 the company implemented a major project in the immediate vicinity of the plant in Weinsheim. 67 holiday homes were built at the Nürburgring .

In the next few years there was a complete change from modular construction to individually planned single-family houses, bungalows, semi-detached houses and multi-family houses. Customer advice takes place in 26 show houses and 50 advisory offices across Germany. In the years 2015 to 2018, the entire production building at the company headquarters was renovated. A new, energy-efficient administration building was built in 2017. In 2018 a new company restaurant was built and in 2019 a new technical equipment center was built at the company's headquarters in Weinsheim / Eifel. In 2019 the company celebrated its 90th anniversary.
