The SG Bad Breisig is a multi-branch association from the Rhineland-Palatinate spa town of Bad Breisig . In addition to the nationally successful football department, the club also offers diving and gymnastics.
history
The association was created in 1988 from the merger of the two associations Spfr. Germania Oberbreisig and SV Niederbreisig . After the restructuring of the playing operation of the Football Association Rheinland of the club in 2004 for the first time rose in the Rhine Land League on. The 2007/08 season was the most successful year in the club's history to date with reaching the semi-finals in the Rhineland Cup and promotion to the Oberliga Südwest . After the immediate relegation to the association league, the club appeared to be runner-up in the 2009/10 season behind the champions Eintracht Trier II, who were not eligible for promotion due to the relegation of the first teamto be promoted again to the Oberliga Südwest. After Eintracht Trier was allowed to stay in the regional league for three clubs because of the withdrawal of their license and the second team was therefore able to move up to the top division, the rise of SG Bad Breisig was again questionable. After the club had successfully protested against the revocation of the right to play in the league, the Southwest Football Regional Association granted the Breisigern permission for the 2010/11 season due to an assumed hardship.
Due to financial problems, the club had initially decided in the 2010/11 season to stop playing in the Oberliga (if the class remained in the class) or in the Rhineland League (if relegated) and voluntarily relegated to the district league. However, the sporting retreat could be averted, so that the SG Bad Breisig, after they had not managed to stay in the league in terms of sport, will start again in the sixth class Rhineland league from the 2011/12 season. In 2016 the club was relegated to the district league.
The first chairman of the association has been the member of the state parliament and sports policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group Guido Ernst since May 2004 .
