The TuS Oberwinter is established in 1920 football club from top winter in the district of Ahrweiler .

history

The football club, founded in 1920, played in the Mitte district league until 2014. In the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons, the club just missed the return to the Rhineland League , which was realized in 2014. Between 2004 and 2009 the club played in what was then the fifth highest division, the Rhineland League.

TuS Oberwinter took part in the DFB Cup in 1981 , where the club defeated FC Rhade 2-0 at home in the first round . In the second round of the cup, the club was drawn from VfB Stuttgart . Oberwinter retired after a clear 10: 1 away defeat at the Swabians.

In the 2006/07 season, the club reached the final of the Rhineland Cup . There the team was defeated by the upper division Eintracht Trier 2-1 after extra time. In the 2012/13 season the club was able to defeat TuS Koblenz 2-0 and thus throw them out of the Rhineland Cup.

In 2003 the B-Juniors reached the final of the German soccer championship . There the club, which was drawn in a group with Karlsruher SC , Turbine Potsdam and Sportfreunde Siegen , only had to give preference to the team from Potsdam .

Stadion

TuS Oberwinter plays its home games in the 2000-seat Walter Assenmacher Stadium in Bandorf . The stadium was only named in 2012 after Assenmacher, who led the club as chairman of the board for over 30 years until his death in February 2008. The first game in the stadium under the new name took place against FC Gönnersdorf ; it ended 0-0.
