Darscheid is a municipality in the Vulkaneifel district in Rhineland-Palatinate . She belongs to the community of Daun .

history
Darscheid was first mentioned in a document in 1354.
Until the end of the 18th century Darscheid belonged to the electorate of Trier and was under the administration and jurisdiction of the Daun office . Darscheid was the seat of a center to which Hörscheid also belonged.
In 1794 the Left Bank of the Rhine was occupied by French revolutionary troops in the First Coalition War. From 1798 to 1814 Darscheid belonged to the canton of Daun in the Saardepartement .
At the Congress of Vienna (1815) the region came to the Kingdom of Prussia , Darscheid was assigned to the newly established district of Daun in the administrative district of Trier in 1816 and administered by the Daun mayor .
After the Second World War , the Darscheid community became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone .

The municipal council in Darscheid consists of twelve council members who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Justification for the coat of arms: The sloping beam with a zigzag strip is taken from the coat of arms of the Counts of Manderscheid , who had a dinghof in Darscheid according to the wisdom of the 15th century. The horn in the upper part of the coat of arms symbolizes the local patron, St. Cornelius . On "Thommen" was a place of execution of the Kampbucheier high court. The sword stands for the place of execution in the lower part of the coat of arms. |
