Geographical location

The place is located in the Vulkaneifel at the confluence of the brooks Winsbach, Welcheratherbach and Nitzbach , about 20 kilometers northeast of the district town of Daun . The Brücker Mühle residential area also belongs to the municipality of Brückal .

history

The place was called Brück until 1971. The place name is derived from a bridge that led over the Nitzbach at this point . In the Middle Ages it belonged as heir to the Counts of Are - Hochstaden to the Electoral Cologne Office of Nürburg until the end of the 18th century . From 1798 to 1814 the place belonged to the French canton Adenau in the Rhine-Moselle department and from 1816 to the Prussian mayorship of Kelberg in the district of Adenau . After the Adenau district was dissolved (1932), the community moved to the Mayen district .

In the course of municipal reorganization of Rhineland-Palatinate the community in 1970 came from Mayen to County Down (today Vulkaneifel district ).

On January 1, 1971, the municipality of Brück was renamed Brückal.
