Oberbettingen is a municipality in the Vulkaneifel district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Gerolstein community .
geography
The place lies in a flat expanse in the valley of the Kyll in the nature park Vulkaneifel . The Meyerhof residential area also belongs to Oberbettingen .
history
Oberbettingen was first mentioned in a document in 845 in a document from King Lothar . Around 1470 Oberbettingen is subordinated to the County of Gerolstein .
Under French rule (1798-1814) Oberbettingen is assigned to the Mairie von Lissendorf . Even under Prussian rule from 1815, the administration of the place remained in Lissendorf.
Oberbettingen was an independent parish until 1750. Since then she has belonged to the parish of Niederbettingen , in today's Hillesheim district of the same name . The former parish church now serves as a branch church .
