In 1794 the Left Bank of the Rhine was occupied by French revolutionary troops in the First Coalition War. From 1798 to 1814 Schutz belonged to the canton of Manderscheid in the Saar department .

At the Congress of Vienna (1815) the region came to the Kingdom of Prussia , protection was assigned to the newly established district of Daun in the administrative district of Trier in 1816 and administered by the Weidenbach mayor . Protection included the Heckelsmühle (correct: Hinkelsmühle), the Regmühle and the Slide Mill. The latter is no longer preserved.

The St. Wendelin Chapel in its current form dates from 1845.

After the Second World War , the municipality of Schutz became part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate within the French occupation zone .
