history

The village appears in documents for the first time in 1201, when a nobleman from Berlingen the Abbey Himmerod bequeathed an estate in Kirchweiler. From 1398 the Archbishopric of Trier was the undisputed ruler . In the Trier fire book of 1563 , 16 fireplaces were registered . The number sank in the course of the plague and the Thirty Years War to only 6 households by 1654. In 1684 an increase to 10 could be determined, which would correspond to about 50 inhabitants. At that time, the residents of Kirchweiler lived mainly from agriculture . In 1624 11 of the 13 households were active in this area, there was also a craftsman and a resident without a job. The population continued to grow until the 19th century. Kirchweiler came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . In 1862 376 people lived in Kirchweiler. Since 1946 the place has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate .
