geography

Hörschhausen located in the Vulkaneifel Nature Park, and partly in the conservation area "Kelberg". The Katzwinkeler Bach and the Üßbach flow through the village . The Hochkelberg ( 674  m above sea  level ) is nearby .

Hörschhausen is on the B 257 , which leads to the next larger towns such as Kelberg and Ulmen .

Neighboring communities are Katzwinkel , Ueß , Horperath , Berenbach , Utzerath and Gefell .

history

Hörschhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1494 and until the end of the 18th century belonged together with Katzwinkel to the office of Nürburg in the Electorate of Cologne . The Apollinaris Chapel was built in 1762.

During the construction of the connection road to Berenbach (today Landesstrasse 101) a jug with 1,800 Roman coins was found in 1851.
