The Üßbach (also spelled “Ueßbach” or “Üssbach”) is a 49 kilometer long brook in the Eifel ( Rhineland-Palatinate ). It rises near Mosbruch in the Vulkaneifel district and flows into the river of the same name at Alf ( Cochem-Zell district ) just before it flows into the Moselle . The spa town of Bad Bertrich is located on the Üßbach . The ruins of the Entersburg lie in a wide loop to the southwest of the Bad Bertrich district of Kennfus .
From the late 1960s, RWE planned the large Bremm pumped storage plant . The dam for its six-kilometer-long Obersee would have been built near Bad Bertrich in the northern Erdenbach valley , which flows into the Üßbach a good kilometer east of the town. The project was ultimately rejected.
