history

Mückeln is mentioned for the first time in a document relating to a property sale from 1336. The place was completely destroyed by French troops in 1678. Reoccupied by French troops from 1794, the place became part of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . In 1944, Father Michael Demuth was able to prevent the town from being destroyed again when he persuaded soldiers from a German flak to give up. Since 1946, the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate .
