Immerath is a municipality in the Vulkaneifel district in Rhineland-Palatinate . She belongs to the community of Daun .
geography
Immerath is located in the eastern part of the conservation area, "Between Ueß and Kyll ". In the south of the municipality is the Immerather Maar , designated as a nature reserve , two kilometers west of the larger powder maar ; The valley of the Ueßbach runs one kilometer to the east . The Heckenmühle, Immerathermühle and Scholzenhof residential areas also belong to Immerath.
Immerath is located 20 km southeast of the town of Daun and about 22 km west of Cochem on the Moselle . The immediate neighboring communities are Winkel , Wagenhausen , Lutzerath , Strotzbüsch and Gillenfeld . The B 421 runs on the outskirts of Immerath , in Mehren bei Daun there is a connection to the A 1 Koblenz - Trier .
history
At the beginning of the 1930s, the foundation walls of a Roman villa were uncovered in the district of Immerath, east of the location (corridor "Auf der Thomheck") . On the basis of broken fragments, the villa was dated to the 3rd to 4th centuries. The main house contained fifteen rooms and had a front length of forty to fifty meters and a depth of about forty meters. The complex was only partially excavated and then covered again. Among other things, a marble statuette of the god Vulcano was found in the Trier State Museum .
The first mention of Immerath ("Emgramenrode") can be found in a document from King Konrad III. when he confirmed his rights and possessions to the Springiersbach monastery on August 1, 1144 after the death of Count Palatine Wilhelm and took it under his protection.
In 1475 a chapel is called “Ymgmerait”, in 1569 the place is called “Imeraidt” in a visitation protocol, and in 1650 the current spelling was first recorded.

The population of Immerath was between 85 and 105 inhabitants in the period from 1557 to 1624, assuming that each household (fireplace) belonged to about five people. The population from 1871 to 1987 is based on censuses:

Municipal council
The local council in Immerath consists of six council members, who were elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote, and the honorary local mayor as chairman.
Attractions
The place is embedded in a maar basin . A small school museum is housed in a historic bakery (early 18th century). The Trinity Chapel is visible from afar on the northern rim of the crater . There is no through traffic through the place, which stretches almost entirely along the main road .
