Wagenhausen is a municipality in the district of Cochem-Zell in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Ulmen community and is the smallest community in the Eifel in terms of area .
geography
Wagenhausen is 13 kilometers west of the city of Cochem and seven kilometers south of the city of Ulmen . The village extends on a mountain ridge that slopes from north to south to the Kerbtal of the Üßbach and includes altitudes between 350 m above sea level. NHN and 380 m above sea level NHN . In terms of its natural surroundings , around 60% of the municipal area used for agriculture can be assigned to the Middle Üßbachtal .
Wagenhausen borders (clockwise) on the local communities of Wollmerath , Gillenbeuren , Lutzerath and (in the Vulkaneifel district) Immerath and Winkel (Eifel) .
history
The place was first mentioned under the name Waguenhusen on April 28, 1193, when Emperor Heinrich VI. the Springiersbach Abbey confirmed their possessions.
Wagenhausen belonged together with Filz , Winkel and Wollmerath to the Wollmerath lordship , which was inherited from the Counts of Wied and was under the sovereignty of Kurtrier .
With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the rule of Kurtrier ended . In 1815 the place was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . Since 1946 the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Municipal council
The municipal council in Wagenhausen consists of six council members, who were elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote, and the honorary local mayor as chairman.
