Heinrich Beyer

Christian Heinrich Beyer (born August 4, 1806 in Erfurt , † September 16, 1886 in Stolberg (Harz) ) was a German archivist and historian .

Life

After attending high school in his hometown, he took up the position of registrar in the Erfurt government of the Prussian province of Saxony . In 1824 he became an archive assistant and in 1832 an archive assistant at the Magdeburg Provincial Archives. In 1835 he moved to the Koblenz State Archives , where he was appointed archive registrar and, in 1840, became Prussian state archivist. From 1864 to 1871 he headed the Erfurt city ​​archive and then went to Stolberg to organize the archives, libraries and funeral sermons collections of the Counts of Stolberg-Stolberg and Stolberg-Roßla. He was a member of the Harz Association for History and Archeology and published several of his scientific papers.

Heinrich Beyer is the father of the Erfurt archivist and historian Carl Beyer (1848–1900).
