geography

Eulgem is located three kilometers east of the city of Kaisersesch on an area sloping from southwest to northeast towards Brohlbach . The village covers altitudes between 410  m above sea level. NHN and 440  m above sea level NHN and extends between the hills Wagenberg in the northwest and Beuelhöchst in the southwest. In terms of natural space , almost two thirds of the agricultural area of ​​the municipality can be assigned to the Kaisersescher Eifelrand in the Eastern Moselle Eifel. District road 21 (Kaisersesch– Hambuch ) leads through the village . The residential area Eulgemermühle , located on a tributary of the Brohlbach, belongs to Eulgem .

history

Eulgem was first mentioned in a document in 1100, then under the name Hylichenheim . In Kurtrier it belonged to the office of Kaisersesch . From 1794 Eulgem was under French rule, in 1815 the place was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna .

Since 1946 Eulgem has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate .
