Hambuch is a municipality in the Cochem-Zell district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Kaisersesch association.

Hambuch also includes the Hambuchermühle and Suhrhof residential areas .

history

The place is first mentioned in 866 as haganbahc . In the Middle Ages, half of the sovereignty lay with Kurtrier , half with Kurköln and the Counts of Leyen. From 1794 the place was under French rule, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . Since 1946 it has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

In 1982, a reprocessing plant  (WAA) was planned between Hambuch and Illerich in the Pommerbachtal . After nine months, the German Society for the reprocessing of nuclear fuels mbH withdrew all plans, instead of Kaisersesch the reprocessing plant in Wackersdorf (Bavaria) was to be built.

Municipal council

The local council in Hambuch consists of twelve council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Economy and Infrastructure

Hambuch has no local rail connection. The next stop is Kaisersesch on the Eifelquerbahn .


Others

In 2005 the project “Dorfakademie Hambuch”, which aims to “make life in rural areas even more attractive” , won first place in the second honorary competition of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, in which outstanding municipal projects are awarded.
