coat of arms
The municipality has had a coat of arms since 1989:
Blazon : “Shield through a curled, overturned golden tip, inside a black, red-tongued eagle, split; in front a silver grate in red, behind in green three golden ears of corn with stalks next to each other. " | |
Reasons for the coat of arms: The imperial eagle commemorates the imperial rule of Muntenich, which was free until the 16th century . The grate points to the patron saint and church patron, St. Laurentius , who has been venerated since the early Messnerei was established in 1775. For the agriculture still practiced today, the golden ears of wheat stand in the green field. The place owes its origin to an agricultural estate; As early as the 13th century, the St. Maximin Abbey in Trier received income here. |
