history
The history of Blankenrath goes back to the 9th and 10th centuries. The settlement history of the region probably goes back to the Celtic times.
For the year 1347 the enfeoffment of the court Blankenrath by Count Johann von Kleve to Gerlach von Braunshorn is attested, in 1362 it came into the possession of the Winneburg counts through inheritance . Later, Kurtrier , Sponheim and the Braunshorn lordship at Beilstein Castle shared their sovereignty. The crosses of the sovereigns of Kurköln and Kurtrier and the Hifthorn of Braunshorn have formed the coat of arms of the local community since 1981.
From 1794 Blankenrath was under French rule , the neighboring town of Reidenhausen (Rodenhausen), which previously formed a community with Blankenrath, was separated. In 1815 the place was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna , Blankenrath became the administrative seat of a mayor's office (renamed Amt Blankenrath in 1927).
Since 1946 the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate .
With the 8th Administrative Simplification Act of July 18, 1970, Blankenrath lost his administrative office with effect from November 7, 1970. With the loss of the Mastershausen community , which had been assigned to the Rhein-Hunsrück district , Blankenrath was deprived of any basis for its own association and was therefore part of the Zell association. In terms of cultural history, the predominant ties to the Moselle region were taken into account.
