The Flaumbach is one of the typical small rivers that flow from the Hunsrück to the Moselle .

geography

It rises at about 450  m above sea level. NHN near Blankenrath and flows after 28.4 km as a right tributary into the Moselle near Treis-Karden .

In the upper and middle reaches between Blankenrath and the confluence of the Mörsdorfer Bach near Maria Engelport Monastery , the Flaumbach flows through a lonely valley, then a road from Mittelstrimmig accompanies the brook.

Tributaries

The Dünnbach from Kastellaun flows parallel to the Mörsdorferbach and Flaumbach and only flows into them shortly before Treis. The Mörsdorfer Bach flows into the Flaumbach just before the Maria Engelport monastery .

Flora and fauna

The Flaumbach flows through extensively used valley meadows, on the bank there are mainly willows and alders, which are hardly used economically today. In many areas, the valley is narrow, with oak and hornbeam- wooded slopes directly adjacent to the stream. Gray herons and mallards are the most common water birds in the Bachtal. Kingfishers and dippers can also be seen on the banks of the stream.
