The Dünnbach is one of the small rivers in Rhineland-Palatinate that flow from the Hunsrück towards the Moselle .
Its strongest source rises at 450 m above sea level. NHN east of Kastellaun . The stream passes Kastellaun in the north and flows in a north-westerly direction through a lonely valley with no large settlements and no significant transport links. At Korweiler , the much less water-bearing Reuschbach flows into the Dünnbach, which in this area (upper course) is also called Deimerbach . After approx. 29 km it flows into Treis-Karden as a right tributary into the Flaumbach , shortly before it flows into the Moselle from the right.
The partially restored Wildburg and the ruins of Treis Castle are located on a ridge between the confluence of the Flaumbach and Dünnbach rivers .
The brook gave the dream loop 99 “Dünnbachpfad” of the Saar-Hunsrück-Steige its name, which touches it several times in the middle course west of Zilshausen .
