Rödelhausen is a municipality in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Kirchberg (Hunsrück) community .

geography

Rödelhausen is centrally located in the Hunsrück , directly on the Hunsrückhöhenstraße B 327 . The Rödelhausen sand pit east of the village is a geological rarity in the Hunsrück.

history

Late Hallstatt burial mounds with skeletons show an early settlement. The time of origin of the place is not documented. Since the 12th century the place was part of the County of Sponheim and came into the possession of the Margraves of Baden in the 18th century . With the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French and from 1798 to 1814 belonged to the canton of Zell in the Rhine-Moselle department . In 1815 the region and thus Rödelhausen was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . Under the Prussian administration the church belonged to the mayor Sohren in county cell of the administrative district of Koblenz . After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French, the place has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946.

The knife is the attribute of Saint Bartholomew to whom the Catholic chapel of the village is consecrated. The urn refers to the find from a late Hallstatt burial mound.
