Sargenroth is a municipality in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Simmern-Rheinböllen community .

geography

Sargenroth is centrally located in the Hunsrück , between the Simmerbachtal and the Soonwald . Simmern is about six kilometers north of the village. The highest elevation of the local community is the Wildburghöhe ( 629  m above sea  level ).

The Forsthaus Ellerspring, Johanneshof and Wildburg residential areas also belong to Sargenroth .

history

In the Middle Ages the place belonged to the judicial district of the Nunkirch and thus to the provost area of the Ravengiersburg monastery . In 1408 the Ravengiersburg area complex with Sargenroth came to the Count Palatine and from these in 1410 to the newly created Duchy of Simmern , which introduced the Reformation in 1566 . In 1673 the place came back to the Electoral Palatinate . With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French again , the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946.

Buildings

The historical Nunkirche and the 18 m high Bismarck tower from 1903 east of the village are national attractions of the local community Sargenroth. The ruins of the Wildburg are on the outskirts of Sargenroth.

Regular events

The traditional Nunkircher market ( Ungerischer Maard ) takes place in September on the Rochusfeld between Nunkirche and Bismarck Tower , which is overgrown with rare orchids . On the Sunday before the market, the annual Gau mountain festival of the Turngau Hunsrück is held.

The forest youth hostel with 134 beds is located in Sargenroth. The Schinderhannes Soonwald cycle path runs between the village and the Soonwald .
