history
In a deed of foundation of the church in Mörschbach from the year 1006 Heriradessneida (Old High German for: timber line of the Herirad ) is mentioned. This place is identified by some historians with Rayigart. Other historians see this designation as a pure tree line and not an indication of a settlement. The location is not explicitly mentioned in the deed of donation from Heinrich von Dycke to the Kumbd monastery from the year 1204. In 1420, Count Palatine Stefan acquired the area around Ray Various from Bertram von Vilvil , who had received the property from his wife Else von Reiffenberg , and from Eberhard von Schonenberg . Ray Various is called Reussraid or Reuspraid in the corresponding documents . The place came to the newly founded Principality of Pfalz-Simmern-Zweibrücken , later Pfalz-Simmern . In 1523 the court days of the Kumbd court , i.e. the judicial district of the areas around the Kumbd monastery, which had previously been held at Kumbd under the linden tree, were moved to Rayanders. In the boundary description of the Kumbder court from the year 1560 the community is mentioned as Rairschiedt .
In the 16th century the persecution of witches seems to have prevailed to a not inconsiderable extent in Rayigart. This is proven by two judgments around 1530: Decker's Leyse from Rayigart is burned as a sorceress on the gallows in Simmern and Vincent's Alsa from Rayigart is ransomed by a man for 50 thalers after she was sentenced to death as a witch at the stake .
In 1673, after the death of Count Palatine Ludwig Heinrich, he came to the Electoral Palatinate . With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French again, the place became part of the newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946.
