Külz (Hunsrück) is a local community in the middle of the low mountain range of the Hunsrück in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Simmern-Rheinböllen community .

Geography and location description

50th degree of latitude near Külz

Külz is a rural residential community with loose buildings. The place is located in the Külzbachtal and is cut through by a state road. The districts of Gass and Taubenmühle belong to Külz .

The district area is: 6.92 km² (692 ha), of which 1.71 km² is community forest. The local church Külz operates in the composite with four other municipalities a kindergarten with location in neighboring Alterkülz .

history

With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops in 1794 , the place became French, and in 1815 at the Congress of Vienna it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . Since 1946 the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Municipal council

The municipal council in Külz consists of eight council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman. Until the 2014 election there were twelve council members.

Külz is located directly on the Schinderhannes cycle path .

Economy and trade

Külz has a bakery, two carpentry shops and a clothing store. On a hill east of the municipality lies windfarm Külz with ten wind turbines of the type Enercon E-70 and Enercon E-82 .
