About this picture

Beulich is a municipality in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Hunsrück-Mittelrhein community .

geography

Beulich is located on a ridge between the Ehrbach- and Baybachtal in the northeastern Hunsrück . It is situated in the conservation area "Moselle area of Schweich to Koblenz".

Beulich also includes the Eckmühl, Eichstiebel, Falkenhof, Grieshof, Neuwieserhöfe, Reischauer and Schmausemühle residential areas .

Neighboring communities of Beulich are Morshausen , Mermuth and Gondershausen .

history

The first mention of the place name was in 1153, when "Arnolfus de Buleche" was mentioned as a witness in a document. The church of "Buliche" was first mentioned in 1212.

Beulich was one of the places that belonged to the Gallscheid court in Trier . In addition, there was a manorial bailiwick of Beulich and Morshausen , which had been in the possession of the Boos von Waldecks since at least 1255 . This bailiwick was a fiefdom and was sold to Kurtrier in 1347 by the Counts of Sayn . In the 15th century, other feudal takers appear alongside the Waldeck Boos. The Vogtei and the Gallscheider court existed until the end of the 18th century.

With the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . Since 1946 the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

During an organized hike by the archeology association ARRATA on September 16, 2006 to villa rustica am Roskerbach, the discovery of a Napoleon hat at height 330 west of the Neuwieser Höfe was reported. This find, which was not seen, would be a Celtic rubstone. Extensive prospecting took place on the basis of this report. In the process, Marco Schaffranski (Mermuth) discovered a completely preserved oval rock ax made of Devonian quartzite in 2006 , which dates to the early Neolithic (approx. 4400 to 2200 BC). Comparable finds are also known from Morshausen, Mermuth, Macken, Oberfell or, for example, Bell.

Beulich coat of arms
Blazon : “In the shield, divided by five battlements, top right in silver a green oak leaf on the left, next to it on the left a black rust. Below three diamond-shaped silver buckles lined up diagonally to the right. "
Justification for the coat of arms: The upper half of the shield with the oak leaf refers to the rich forest of the community. The black rust refers to the church patron St. Laurentius. The lower half of the shield refers to Beulich's former affiliation with Messrs Boos von Waldeck.

Parish church

The parish church of St. Laurentius and St. Apollonia was built in 1748 under the master builder Johann Neurohr on the site of an older previous building. The Romanesque west tower from the 11th century was raised in 1838/39.

Inside the church there is an organ built by the brothers Friedrich and Ernst Stumm from 1853. The instrument, which is equipped with a mechanical action and slider drawer, has 20 stops on two manuals and a pedal. In 1997 it was extensively restored by Förster & Nicolaus Orgelbau .

Forest Forum Roskerbach

The "Waldforum Roskerbach" biotope in Roskertal goes back to the former Beulich forest swimming pool, which was created by local residents and opened in 1937. The facility was renovated in 1986, but closed in 1991 due to water hygiene problems. At the end of 2002, the renaturation of the area began, with the natural streams being restored and several information stations being built.
