Helmut Beulich (born June 14, 1927 in Lichtensee , Amtshauptmannschaft Grossenhain ) is a former German soccer coach . In the course of his career he trained, among other things, the SC activist Brieske-Senftenberg in the first-class GDR league .

Life

Helmut Beulich joined the SG Wülknitz at the age of seven. He played there until he was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1943 and was taken prisoner towards the end of the war . After his release, Beulich joined the ZSG Gröditz in 1947, where he played for twelve years and ended his active career.

From 1959 Helmut Beulich coached the youth teams of SC activist Brieske-Senftenberg , before he became head coach of the professional team two years later. The SC activist played in the GDR Oberliga, the top division of the GDR. In the 1962/63 season , the club rose from the GDR league and was dissolved at the same time. After SC Cottbus was founded, Beulich took over its youth teams and at the same time became the selection coach of the Cottbus district's soccer team . With the juniors of SC Cottbus Beulich was 1964 champion in the junior district league Cottbus and took part in the games for the junior championship. In 1966, the BSG Energie Cottbus was formed from the football department of SC Cottbus, where Beulich, after another year as a youth coach, was finally coach of the professional team in the second-rate GDR league .

In his first season as head coach, Helmut Beulich achieved second place in the North Season with Energie Cottbus. The following season was marked by a lot of draws, so that the team only finished sixth despite only seven defeats. In the 1969/70 season, the BSG was at the top of the table after four matchdays, but Beulich's team was unable to stay at the top of the table in the following. In November 1969 Helmut Beulich resigned from his position and was replaced by Günter Dabow . After his resignation, Beulich worked for about eight months in the office of the Cottbus District Association.

In August 1970 Helmut Beulich took over the coaching position of the then regional division BSG Motor Finsterwalde-Süd . From 1972 he was coach of the third division BSG Motor Suhl, with whom he rose to the GDR league the following year. After a third place in the 1973/74 season and a second place in the 1974/75 season, BSG Motor was even able to qualify for the play-off games for promotion to the first-class league in the 1975/76 season . Second place was enough, as the first place FC Carl Zeiss Jena II was reclassified to the junior league. With two wins, one draw and five defeats, Suhl was second to last in the promotion relegation and thus remained in the GDR league. In December 1977 Beulich resigned from his office.

From 1978 Beulich trained the district selection Suhl for a few years. In February 1986 he returned as a trainer to BSG Motor Suhl, which had been relegated from the GDR league the previous year. There Beulich's team reached only 14th place at the end of the season. After another season, Helmut Beulich ended his coaching career in June 1987.
