history

There are several graves from the Hallstatt period in the parish of the local community . It is first mentioned in a document from 1324 ( Ravengisburen ), probably as an outlying settlement of the Ravengiersburg monastery . The tower of the Protestant church is from the 13th century, as is the small bell there with the inscription “Maria am I called” in large Gothic letters. The nave was renovated around 1707 and contains a beautiful gallery with parapet panels and paintings from the 18th century and an organ made by the Stumm family of organ builders from Sulzbach . With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French, the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .

North-west of Raversbeuren, Briedel district , near Margaretenhof, a Roman villa was discovered in 1867 and examined and partially exposed by the Rhenish Provincial Museum in 1875 . The estate complex, without the outbuildings, covered an area of 41 × 26 m. More than 30 rooms could be exposed. The water was already brought in through lead pipes. The manor was still in existence in the late Roman period.
