Uhler is a municipality in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Kastellaun .

Uhler is located on a ridge in the middle of the Hunsrück , about two kilometers north of the Hunsrückhöhenstrasse .

Uhler also owns the Graefenmühle, Junkersmühle, Neumühle and Sulzmühle residential areas .

Uhler was mentioned for the first time in 1200 in a document from the Imperial Abbey of St. Maximin in Trier as owilre . Uhler belonged to the three-man Beltheim court . With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French, the place has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 .

The municipal council in Uhler consists of eight council members who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Local mayor is Hans Herbert Laux. In the local elections on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office with 76.06% of the vote.


	Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms reminds of the gentlemen of the triple court in Beltheim. The head of the shield to the Counts of Sponheim , the red cross to the rule of Kurtrier and the silver Hifthorn to the noblemen of Braunshorn . The knight dynasty of the Keyser von "Owilre" wore the black wing.
