history

The first written mention of the place Beltheim was in 893 in the Prümer Urbar as "Beltuom". Since the late Middle Ages, Beltheim had been the main town of the Beltheim Court , a three-lordly condominium to which 13 surrounding villages belonged. In the 14th century, half of the court was in the hands of Kurtrier and a quarter each as a fiefdom in the possession of the Lords of Braunshorn and Waldeck . The Waldeck share came to the Counts of Sponheim in 1366 . After the Left Bank of the Rhine was taken by French revolutionary troops (1794), Beltheim came to France and belonged to the canton of Kastellaun in the Rhine-Moselle department from 1798 to 1814 . Due to the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna , the region was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815. Under the Prussian administration, all the places that belong to the local community today came to the Kastellaun mayor's office in the Simmern district in the Koblenz administrative district, formed in 1816 . Since 1946 the place has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The current municipality of Beltheim was created on March 17, 1974 through the merger of the previously independent municipality of Beltheim with the previously independent municipalities of Frankweiler, Heyweiler, Mannebach, Schnellbach and Sevenich on March 17, 1974.
