Sohrschied is a municipality in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Kirchberg (Hunsrück) community .

geography

Sohrschied is located on the edge of the Kyrbach valley on both sides of the Aubach in the middle of the Hunsrück .

history

It was first mentioned in a document in 1428 . The place belonged to the high court of Rhaunen of the Wild and Rhine Counts . Since the 16th century the place was under the rule of the Hinteren Grafschaft Sponheim . With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . After the First World War temporarily occupied by the French , the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946.

The lion indicates that the village belonged to the high court of Rhaunen in the Wild and Rhine County. The lily refers to the chapel in Sohrschied, which Maria had as patroness. The red and silver chess points to the rear county of Sponheim, under whose influence the place has been since the 16th century.
