history
Büchenbeuren was mentioned for the first time in 1301 in a document from the Sponheim family . Until the end of the Middle Ages, Büchenbeuren belonged to the rulership of the Sponheim counts. In 1437 the place fell to the Margraves of Baden and the Count Palatine near Rhine . At the end of the 18th century, modernization slowly found its way into Büchenbeuren. In 1783 serfdom was lifted by Margrave Karl Friedrich .
In October 1794, French troops occupied Büchenbeuren. The rectory served as a French military hospital. From 1796 Büchenbeuren belonged directly to France like all areas on the left bank of the Rhine . The French administration was only functional here from 1798. Büchenbeuren belonged to the newly created arrondissement Simmern in the Rhine-Mosel department with Simmern as the administrative center. Kirchberg became the main town ( chef-lieu ) of a canton , Büchenbeuren, along with Altlay, Bärenbach, Belg, Lautzenhausen, Niederweiler and Wahlenau, belonged to the Mairie Sohren established in 1800 . In 1804, French civil law was introduced with the Civil Code .
In 1814 the French rule in the Hunsrück and Büchenbeuren ended and the Hunsrück was assigned to the Generalgouvernement Mittelrhein under Justus von Gruner on February 2, 1814 and then to the Joint State Administration Commission on June 16, 1814 , under the administration of Austria and Bavaria was standing.
At the Congress of Vienna , the Hunsrück was then incorporated into the Prussian province of the Grand Duchy of Lower Rhine , which became part of the Rhine province in 1822. Until 1845, however, Büchenbeuren was still administered according to the French municipal constitution , until the “Municipal Code for the Rhine Province” was introduced in the same year.
Under the Prussian administration, Büchenbeuren was subordinate to the Sohren mayor's office in the Zell district from 1816 . In 1852 the seat of the mayor's office was relocated to Büchenbeuren, but the name of the "mayor's office Sohren" or from 1927 "Sohren office" remained. In 1939, the Soren office was finally renamed “Büchenbeuren Office”, which was temporarily converted into the Büchenbeuren community in 1968 . Büchenbeuren has been part of the Kirchberg community since 1970 .
