Michelbach is a community in the middle of the low mountain range of the Hunsrück in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Kastellaun .
geography
The place Michelbach lies on a hilltop in the middle of the fields at an average height of 430 m above sea level. NHN , between the Külzbachtal and the Biebertal .
The Junkersmühle residential area also belongs to Michelbach .
The municipal area of the municipality covers 2.39 square kilometers, of which 76 per cent of agricultural land and the 12 per cent forest development.

history
Michelbach belonged to the late 18th century country wonderfully for Rear County of Sponheim and was last owned by the Duke of Pfalz-Zweibrücken . Within the office of Kastellaun , Michelbach belonged to the administrative and judicial district of the Hasselbacher care .
With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French , from 1798 to 1814 it belonged to the canton of Kastellaun , which was assigned to the Rhine-Moselle department . At the Congress of Vienna (1815) the region was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia . Under the Prussian administration, Michelbach was subordinate to the mayor of Kastellaun in the Simmern district from 1816 and belonged to the Rhine Province from 1822 until the end of the Second World War . Since 1946 the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate and has been part of the Rhein-Hunsrück district since 1969 .
In 1850 a boys' house was founded in Michelbach by pastor Bartels from Alterkülz and in 1851 it was moved to the Schmiedel area between Simmern and Nannhausen. The first building of the smithy was erected there, which was inaugurated on September 13, 1851 for a householder and twelve boys.
