Hungenroth is a municipality in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Hunsrück-Mittelrhein community .

geography

The village lies on a ridge in the east of the Hunsrück , between the Middle Rhine Valley and the federal highway 61 . Hungenroth also includes the Berghof and Sonnenhof residential areas .

history

Hungenroth belonged to the second half of the 15th century to the reign of Schoeneck and then as uncashed deposit shaft for Bailiwick Pfalzfeld in the low Katzenelnbogen After the extinction of the title of count and the possessions of Cat's Elbow came to the princes of Hesse and the Landgrave's secondary lines Hessen-Rheinfels . With the occupation of the Left Bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . Since 1946 the place has been part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
