history

First documented mention in 1052. In 1332, Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian confirmed all possessions of the Archbishopric Trier to Elector Baldwin , including Balduinseck and Buch. Buch belonged to the Beltheim court . Up to the end of the 15th century a knight dynasty "von Buch" can be proven. With the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops , the place became French, in 1815 it was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . In Buch, the Dernbach sisters, poor servants of Jesus Christ , ran a branch from December 8, 1920 to March 31, 1962, the so-called (St.) Joseph's Monastery. The sisters there looked after the kindergarten, ran outpatient nursing and a sewing school. Since 1946 the place has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Today's municipality was created on March 17, 1974 through the merger of the municipality of Buch with the previously independent municipality of Mörz.
