Location of Sabershausen in Rhineland-Palatinate

Sabershausen , in the local dialect Sawersch , is a district of the local community Dommershausen in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . Until 1974 Sabershausen was an independent municipality.

geography

Sabershausen lies on a ridge in the low mountain range of the northern Hunsrück . The wild and romantic Lützbach rises here .

history

Sabershausen is mentioned for the first time in 1100 in a list of goods of the Karden Abbey as Sauereshusen . In the confirmation of these goods by Pope Urban III. it is found as Sauirthusen . The place was part of the Beltheim court and, as a condominium , belonged to three lordships: Kurtrier , Grafschaft Sponheim (as successor to the lords of Waldeck ) and the lords of Braunshorn . In the 13th and 14th centuries, a knight family "von Sabershausen" can be proven. The knights of Sabershausen had a castle house at Waldeck Castle and were co-owners of the Wildburg in the Soonwald .

As part of the first Rhineland-Palatinate administrative and territorial reform that began in the second half of the 1960s, the previously independent community of Sabershausen was dissolved on March 17, 1974, and today's local community of Dommershausen was formed from it and three other communities.
